An amateur chef’s journey through the most comprehensive guide on sauces in human history

The purpose of this website is to chronicle a photographic journey through the entirety of "James Peterson’s James Beard award winning “Sauces: Classical and Contemporary Sauce Making”. My goal is to elevate my understanding of sauces and culinary photography. Photography unrelated to this journey can be found in the “Other” section of this website.

When I first approached Sauces I was overwhelmed. I am still overwhelmed. The recipes in this book are like jigsaw puzzle pieces; you often have to craft the more foundational elements or stocks before piecing them together into intricate final products. After dancing around the book for a bit, head spinning, I decided to take a step back and start from the beginning. That’s where I am at now. Thanks for reading!
